Simit and a Berliner

A personal blog by Ahmet Kerem Aksoy.

Two simits and a berliner.

I have a blog, finally

Alright. I have finally put in the time to create a blog and stick with it. I had to do it; not only because I wanted to but also because I had to. Every cool fellow human being who finds the time to write a blog has a blog. I also wanna be cool. Alright, it is actually more than that.

Beware! The rest of this post is cringe. But this does not change the fact that it is true. Also, I wrote this very quickly because I needed a first post. So if you cringe too much just skip it. Dont make a fuss about it.

Producing instead of consuming. Creating instead of eating it up. That is the main theme behind any motivation that pushes humanity forward. People who create stuff push the society forward. They make things. Creating is not only useful but also fun. The satisfaction that you get when you complete something. When you start something and finish it. When you write a piece of code and see it is working. When you see people using it. When you bake a tart for your friends and see them loving it. When you help your uncle building a table for the backyard or when you put silicone under the sink because it leaks. When you write a blog.

Having an endless passion of creating things moves us forward. It opens doors for new endeavours. It gives us the opportunity to have new experiences. Consuming things closes doors. It imprisons man to his own world. It does not create value.

“The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” — Alexander Supertramp Chris McCandless

So, anybody that has an opportunity to create should create. It does not matter if it is small or big. It does not matter if your work is consumed by millions, thousands or no one. You gotta do it for yourself.

This blog is my attempt to produce rather than consume.
